Part of the story: U-M kicks off yearlong bicentennial

University of Michigan will mark its bicentennial year with programming and events throughout 2017 that recognize the university’s achievements and examine the challenges facing higher education today. The UM-Dearborn community will be invited to attend these events in Ann Arbor and will recognize the start of the bicentennial celebration on its campus during the 24th Annual MLK Day of Service on Monday, January 16.

“It seems especially fitting for our campus to mark the start of University of Michigan’s bicentennial during our annual MLK Day of Service because engaging with our community has been an important part of UM-Dearborn’s history since its beginning in 1959,” said Kate Malicke, bicentennial liaison and MLK communications chair. “What better way to reflect on the impact of the university than to come together to serve our region?”

More information about the bicentennial can be found on the U-M Bicentennial website. For more information about UM-Dearborn’s involvement, contact Kate Malicke at
